Lanny Maack

Lanny met Sue Stusse in 1962 and they were married on September 28, 1963. He worked at the Farmer's Coop Elevator in Hinton for twenty nine years before beginning work for Terra Chemicals. He became assistant manager for Terra as well as working as a salesman and doing fertilizer application during their busy periods. While doing application work, he took his chances with not tipping over and worked very hard. Sue reported that Lanny played very hard also, probably doing that best!

Lanny contracted Lupus but continued working for Terra until the disease ended his career there. He worked briefly with Larry Clark as well as working at the Toy Store with Albert Schultz in Le Mars. Six months after being diagnosed with cancer, Lanny died on June 24, 1999.

Lanny and Sue had three grandchildren; Travis, Megan, and Jessica. Lanny and Travis became particularly close and all three grandchildren have fond memories of their grandfather and talk about him frequently.

Sue lives in Le Mars but has recently acquired a winter place in the Phoenix, Arizona area.
